I wound up in hospital
Yesterday was the first day in over a month I’ve failed to send my daily email.
Let me explain what happened...
Last week was a brilliant week for me.
I finally crossed the 3k follower mark.
One of my clients had some absolutely monster results with a giveaway.
And my mastermind group’s first call together went absolutely superbly for everyone involved.
So, in my jovial mood, I decided to treat myself.
It was Saturday night, after all.
I didn’t have any big plans.
So a nice takeaway couldn’t hurt, right?
Now, to my annoyance, my normal local was closed.
So I decided to branch further afield (a decision I would live to regret).
On my hunt for grub, I was greeted by a lovely looking kebab shop, lights glistening from afar.
I checked the menu.
The chicken wrap with hot sauce and garlic mayo had my name all over it.
A perfect treat for a quiet Saturday night in.
And after 5 minutes waiting for it to be freshly cooked, boyyyy did it smell good through through the paper wrapper.
As soon as I had my mits on it, I began pacing home, eager to devour this absolute monstrosity.
And practically 30 seconds after I’d closed the door behind me, the whole thing was gone.
Proper Scooby Doo style.
And that was that.
Or so I thought.
Because a few hours later, I noticed something didn’t feel quite right.
Not the normal “oh God I’m a bit bloated” feeling we’ve all experienced after having a bit of a dodgy takeaway.
This was something different.
It started with a few stomach rumbles.
Then the nausea came on.
And then, all of a sudden, it hit me like a fucking truck.
Because the next last 36+ hours were accompanied by the most intense bouts of sickness of my entire life.
I woke up on Sunday night, dripping in sweat, covered in a rash from head to toe and, to top it all off, proceeded to engage in what can only be described as a vomit napalm strike for the next 6 hours straight.
It got so bad in fact, that at 3am, as I stumbled to the kitchen to grab a glass of water, my dizziness got the best of me.
I don’t remember the details.
But I do remember that 5 minutes later I woke up on my kitchen floor, staring at my oven light wondering where the hell I was, what had happened and why the back of my head was absolutely pounding.
It didn’t take me long to realise I’d blacked out (most likely due to dehydration) and fallen down to floor, cracking my head on the way down.
Now, my head was OK.
Bruised, but fine.
But at this point I was starting to get really worried.
I’ve been seriously sick before.
But this was something else.
The rash was literally covering my entire body at this point and itching like an motherfucker.
I decided the time had come to call an ambulance.
The paramedics arrived 15 minutes later and the look on one of the guy’s face when he first saw me is almost comical now that I know I’m OK.
This young guy, pink and purple with a rash, shaking uncontrollably from the cold and covered in his own sick.
Hardly a picture of health hahahah.
Anyway, they ran their tests and decided a trip to A&E was in order (God bless the NHS if you’re a fellow Brit).
And after a lot of checkups and testing, a couple of antihistamine shots and about 50 blood pressure measurements, they determined that it was in fact just an extremely severe case of food poisoning and sent me on my way.
Now, I still don’t feel 100% (obviously).
I spent the bulk of yesterday in bed feeling very sorry for myself and binging Netflix (yes, I know on X we’re not allowed to admit we watch Netflix - sue me).
But this day of rest has done me the world of good.
Not only for getting over the sickness.
But taking a day or two away from X has allowed me to come back this morning with a renewed sense of excitement.
I can feel that “rush” of excitement all over again.
The one I woke up with every morning when I first started this journey.
I feel mentally reset and excited to kick this next week into high gear.
Back in the game.
So, apologies for the brief intermission in the emails and poor replies on X over the last few days (I hope you can understand…)
But I am, well and truly, back at it now.
Talk soon,
Harry
