How I hit $4k/mo and quit my 9-5

Exact roadmap for you to copy

Morning guys.

Do you find yourself constantly dreaming about the day when you can quit university or your boring 9-5 and become a full-time creator?

The day you’ll finally have both income and time freedom?

The day you can finally say f*ck you to your boss or lecturer as you walk out the door for the last time?

This was me 4 months ago.

I realised that the 9-5 life is a mug’s game.

And one that 99% of society are unfortunately stuck in.

So I devised an escape plan.

A way to finally achieve the freedom I was after.

And it went exceedingly well.

So well in fact that (as many of you know) after just 3 months on X I was able to quit my 9-5.

Now, I’m still serving out my 3 month notice period (and fucking sick of it), but I’m already earning way more more than enough money as a creator to support my lifestyle.

So in this email I want to spell out in graphic detail how I hit $4k/month and quit my 9-5 after just 3 months on X.

And more importantly, I’m going to give you an exact roadmap so that you can do the same for yourself.

So get your notepad out, guys.

You’re gonna want to write this one down.

1) Post authority content on 𝕏 every SINGLE day

When I came to 𝕏 no one knew who I was and no one gave a shit about me.

This is probably how you feel right now.

You need to give them a reason to care about you.

Here’s how I did this and how you can too:

  • Go onto X every single day and write down the problems people are having (this is your problem “database”)

  • Pick the problems you care about (for me, these are all related to copywriting and personal branding)

  • Find the existing solutions in the marketplace and figure out what’s wrong with them

  • Consume resources related to these problems like a madman - 𝕏 posts, newsletters, books, blog posts, YT videos. Devour EVERYTHING.

Over time, you’ll begin to put the pieces together and devise your own, better solutions than the ones which already exist.

You know what you need to do then?

Start ramming your solutions down people’s throats in the form of 𝕏 posts every single day.

Tweets. Long forms. Threads. Videos. Everything you can possibly think of.

Make it absolutely undeniable in people’s minds that you are a master of your craft and you know how to solve their problems.

Over time, people will start to gather around you.

Next, you need a place to start pitching people on my products and services…

2) Set up a newsletter

People on 𝕏 have no interest in being sold on your stuff.

So you need a second platform where people ARE interested in hearing about this.

A newsletter is a place to do this.

Go onto Beehiiv (ConvertKit is also great) and create a free newsletter.

This is so fucking easy, will take you no more than 10 minutes and will one day become the place where you earn 95%+ of your online income (this is the case for me now).

If you don’t have a newsletter right now then you are fucking up big time.

Now you need to get people into your newsletter….

3) Funnel people into your newsletter

Everything in life is a value exchange.

So you need to provide them with something valuable to incentivise them to hand over their email address.

A lead magnet is how you do this.

Create a fucking epic lead magnet which solves ONE specific problem in your field.

I specialise in copywriting and using it to build people’s personal brands.

So I not one but FOUR lead magnets all targeted at this niche:

1) A FREE Ultimate Guide to Hooks which capture attention

2) A FREE Ultimate Guide to Storytelling to help people tell their brand’s story

3) A FREE Ultimate Guide to Lead Magnets to help people build their own lead magnet

4) A FREE Ultimate Guide to Monetization to show people how to monetize their brand on 𝕏

And the result?

I now own a newsletter with 1,600+ subscribers who read my emails every day and who are interested in my expertise in these fields.

This is the situation I want you to manufacture for yourself.

Build a lead magnet idea which is going to appeal to people in your chosen field and then make it so unbelievably good that there is no way they could not download it.

(FYI - in tomorrow’s email I’ll be releasing a whole bunch of lead magnet ideas you can use to get a fuck ton of new subs based on your specific niche.)

Right.

Let’s fast forward.

You’ve created your lead magnet and it’s an instant hit (which it will be if you use my Ultimate Guide to Lead Magnets linked above).

Now it’s time to start converting subs into clients…

4) Craft an irresistible offer

I’ve made a million posts about how to craft a great offer.

But here are the 4 fundamental things you need (with a copywriting example):

  • Specific action + outcome (“I’ll write emails for you to increase open rates by 20% and increase sales from those open rates by 30%”)

  • Specific timeframe (“within 30 days”)

  • Guarantee (“and I’ll work for free for you until we achieve this outcome”)

  • Scarcity/FOMO (“I only have 1/3 client spaces left” or “Prices will double next month”)

There is a lot more to it than this, but this will at least get you in the right direction.

Now you need to push traffic towards this offer…

5) Put this offer infront of people for FREE

You’re now going to start sending emails every single day.

Yes.

Every. Single. Day.

Every day you miss an email is a day you fail to demonstrate competency to your subscribers.

More importantly, every day you miss an email is a day you miss to offer them your services/products.

Which means less sales and less money for you.

Make these emails an absolute nuclear bomb of value that again shows undeniable competence in your chosen field.

At the end of each email, invite people to hop on FREE 15 minute calls with you.

These free calls are where you are going to show people your offer.

6) Learn how to execute sales calls

Even if you offer people to work for free, you still need to convince them why they should work with YOU rather than someone else.

Here’s my 8-step framework to achieve this:

  • Get to know them for 1-2 minutes

  • Ask them where they’re at now, where they want to be and what’s stopping them

  • Empathise and relate to their problems

  • Explain (gently) why their existing methods aren’t working

  • Present your alternative solution (i.e. your offer)

  • State the price of your service (FREE for now)

  • Handle objections (either price or trust objections)

  • Complete payment and set up your first meeting while still on the call (avoids people getting cold feet after you hang up)

The more you practise this, the better you will get (I fucked up so many early calls but now 60-70% of people take me up on my offer).

Let’s now jump ahead: you’ve crushed a few sales calls and landed 2-3 FREE clients.

What next?

7) CRUSH IT for your FREE clients

Treat your free clients as though they’re paying you the big bucks.

Why?

Because they are your ticket to getting paid clients.

It is 100% possible to land paid clients without testimonials (I have done it).

But it is a million times easier if you have stacked up incredible results for other people already.

It gives your offer so much more authority.

So go absolutely all out and overdeliver like crazy for these free clients.

8) Collect outrageously good testimonials

Set up a testimonial.to site.

Collect 3-5 exceptional testimonials on their “Wall of Love”.

Bonus: Get one of your clients to submit a video testimonial for extra credibility.

Once you’ve done this you’re going to leverage the fuck out of these testimonials.

9) Build a disgustingly compelling landing page

I’m talking out of my arse a bit on this one.

Because I’m still in the process of finalising my sales/landing page myself (the sad part of being on my notice period at work is I still only have time to do the absolute essential stuff for my business).

But what you want is a fucking dope landing page which you can direct people to.

This will allow you to sell your stuff on autopilot going forwards.

Once you have built this page, instead of using your emails to invite people to free calls with you, you are going to direct them to this landing page.

On this landing page you are going to:

  • Address the problem these people are trying to solve

  • Agitate their pains

  • Create a video of you explaining how you can solve their problems

  • Write out some copy (the same script you used for the video) explaining how you will solve these problems

  • Embed the testimonials you collected from your FREE clients on this page

  • Invite people to book a FREE 15 minute call with you at multiple points across the page

You are stacking the value behind your services in their mind before they even hop on a call with you.

This will make them so much more likely to take you up on your offer on the sales call.

If you don’t know how to build a landing page, study web design.

If you don’t know how to write the copy for a landing page, study landing page copy.

I can help you with this if you need (I have helped a client with this and we just hit $16k in sales in under 24 hours for his product).

You’re now ready to start charging.

10) Start charging at $500-$1,000/mo per client

You’re now ready to start charging for your services.

$500-$1k/month is the perfect starting point for each client.

The only thing this changes is that, on your sales calls, instead of telling people you’re working for free, you now state your price.

If you have:

  • 3-5 exceptional testimonials

  • A no-brainer offer

  • Sufficient traffic to push towards your landing page

  • A good understanding of how to run a sales call

Then there is no reason why you cannot land 3-4 clients paying you $1k+/month.

Add on a few individual 1-1 calls at $199 for a 1 hour call and you are now making $4-5k/month.

This is more than enough for 99% of you to be ready to quit your 9-5 and pursue becoming a creator full time.

Now all you need to do is scale up your prices…

11) Scale (infinitely)

Get to a point where the majority of people who hop on calls with you are saying yes to your $500-$1,000/month price.

Then it’s time to increase it.

At this point, it’s just scale, scale, scale baby.

Because a piece of work you charge $500/month for will take the exact same amount of time as a piece of work you charge $5,000/month for.

You’ve finally reached the point where YOU decide how many hours you want to work.

And then you just scale up the amount you can charge for those by becoming more and more skilled in your field.

The only limiting factor on your income now is your skill level.

You have reached the holy land: time freedom.

Your 9-5 is a thing of the past and you are a full time creator.
