Hint: Your offer might NOT be the problem
(The other side of the “money equation”)
This is going to be a rare email from me.
Why?
Because for once…
I’m NOT going to talk about your offer.
Instead?
I’m going to talk about the other side of the “money equation”…
Traffic.
I know there’s a lot of elbow-munchers out there who say stuff like “impressions don’t matter”.
Sure.
You want to optimise for revenue, not views - no debate there.
But in what world does getting more eyes on your content not result in more money in your pocket? (either through direct sales or indirectly through a perceived increase in authority).
So…
How do you get more impressions on your content?
Simple:
You talk about (and solve) problems a large number of people care about.
What problems?
Well…
We just found one didn’t we: “how do I get more impressions on my tweets?”
So let’s pretend we’re writing content to solve THAT problem (meta AF, right?)
Ok.
Now we need to ask ourselves…
Why would someone be suffering with “low impression”-itis?
Bad hooks.
That’s the only option, right?
WRONG.
Think about it.
Why ELSE would someone have low impressions on their posts?
Come on. Think.
Low impressions.
Why? (Not hooks).
Think dammit!
Surely you can think of ONE reason someone would have low impressions on their posts than “bad hooks”?
You can’t? Okay. I’ll help you out.
How about…
They have a busy 9-5 or… they have a family to take care of or… they’re trying to build this thing alongside an intense school program.
Consistency.
More specifically…
LACK of consistency.
I think that’s something we can all relate to and agree is ANOTHER thing that would NUKE someone’s impressions, no?
Now take a step back.
Do you see what happened there?
The BIG mistake you made?
You ASSUMED they were struggling with their hooks.
You didn’t ASK the question.
You GUESSED.
And now you’re writing content on “how to write better hooks” when what your audience REALLY cares about is “how do I stay consistent” or (which requires a COMPLETELY different solution).
All along…
You were solving the WRONG problem.
Result?
Your content didn’t hit home, you didn’t get the reaction you wanted and… now YOU’RE the one who can’t get impressions.
But wait…
Do you remember when I told you at the start of this email “this has nothing to do with your offer”.
I lied.
This email was only ever about your offer.
You just needed me to shift your perspective (with the previous line) to see it that way.
Talk soon,
Harry
PS. England are playing in the Euros finals on Sunday.
If you care even slightly about the footy… I wanna hear your score predictions.
Secondly…
This has given me an idea.
Next time there’s a big sporting event we’re 100% setting up a sweepstake with you and the other lads and ladies on this list hahahah. I’ll have a brainstorm.
