F*ck me... as if he's said that

Hopped on a Twitter Space with none other than Mr Dan West last night.

Now…

I’m prone to some fucking wild metaphors.

But if you weren’t on the Space last night…

Dan has come out with what I think might be the most “on the nose” (but also absolutely jokes) analogy I have ever heard.

I’ll leave you to check out the Space (it’s on my Twitter profile, at around the 60 minute mark) if you want to hear what he “concocted”.

Because I’m certainly not typing it out here haha.

(Hint: it has a lot to do with your bedroom antics, and there’s some “clues” in the comments).

But regardless of THAT…

One of the key questions which came out of this space (which you’ve probably asked yourself more than a few times):

Should I work with a client even if I know they’re not the “ideal” fit for me (just so I can get some experience)?

My take:

(And stick around for the end because I’m going to provide some “nuance” to this perspective you probably haven’t heard before).

Look.

Ideal world?

Absolutely fucking not.

I can promise you (as someone who made this mistake early on in his journey, and vowed never again to work with a client who wasn’t a good fit)…

Bad clients DRAIN you.

It’s literally like a fucking vampire has come into your business and now every time you open Telegram you are inundated with a proverbial shitstorm of ridiculous messages, incessant “can you tweak this please’s” (even though you’re the expert), and an addiction to your Instagram feed because you literally CANNOT face doing the silly tasks this person is asking of you.

And the worst part about this is…

It makes you question yourself.

It makes you doubt whether YOU are any good.

And if there is ONE thing you don’t need any more of on your solo-biz journey?

It’s more self-doubt.

But here’s the thing…

There’s another side to this equation.

And it has nothing to do with “but what if I need the experience?” or “wouldn’t it be good to get some case studies/testimonials?” or anything “trite” like that (even though they’re perfectly valid questions to ask).

Because the thing you need to realise is…

It probably doesn’t matter what I tell you to do.

If you’ve ever gotten into a relationship with a girl (or guy) you knew deep down wasn’t a good fit for you (but did it anyway), you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

It doesn’t matter what your friends tell you.

It doesn’t matter how much logic your family throws at you to try and “dissuade” you from the pile of shit you’re about to end up in.

You’re going to do it anyway.

And nothing I say (or anyone else for that matter) is going to stop you.

And you know what?

That’s okay.

Sometimes you need to make your own mistakes and “see” the consequences with your own eyes before you truly understand what taking on a bad fit for your business does to your soul.

But it would be irresponsible of me not to at least forewarn you:

Taking on a bad client is infinitely worse than not having any clients at all.

I know you want them.

I know you’re desperate to hit $X/month.

But as someone who has seen both sides of the coin, I can assure you this…

Taking the extra 1-2 weeks to find the RIGHT client who you can build a genuine, long-lasting relationship with (even if it means you earn less money in the short term) is absolutely the right move for you.

Again — you might not listen.

And, again — that’s okay.

This is your journey.

Your business.

And, ultimately, your life.

But if you would like to learn how to start attracting the RIGHT clients to your business.

Clients who respect your time.

Clients who respect your energy.

Clients who pay you what you’re truly worth.

And people who you’re genuinely excited to wake up and crack on with every day.

Then that’s exactly what you’ll be getting in my upcoming Flip The Script workshop.

Again — your choice.

But learning how to position your brand, content and offers so you ONLY attract people who are actually a good fit for your business (and repel everyone else) is probably going to save you a fuck ton of headaches, frustrations and “is this even worth it’s” over the next 6 months.

So, if that sounds good to you?

And not to pressure you…

But doors close in just over 24 hours.

I won’t be hosting this again.

And I do genuinely believe this will have a huge impact on your business and quality of life over the next 3-6 months.
