How I comment to make money on X

Optimize for cash, not followers

Most engagement advice on X is utter BS.

And there's good reason for that.

It’s perpetuated by the growth gurus whose entire business model is built upon the narrative that you need more followers to monetize your account.

Spoiler alert: you don't.

You just need the RIGHT followers.

Having a big account is nice, of course.

But you know what’s nicer?

Having a big BANK account.

And as a member of this newsletter that is what you should be optimizing for:

Money, not followers.

You’re running a business after all, right?

As soon as I started treating my comments and engagment on X as though it was a business, my Stripe account started to reflect it (to the tune of over $10k in the past 50 days).

So, with that in mind, here’s how I set up my engagement / commenting on Twitter to optimize for the one thing that actually matters: cash.

All it takes is 5 simple lists:

List #1: Top 15 (public)

These are 10-15 big accounts in my niche (copywriting for brands).

The big dogs I want to build relationships with.

(This is my only public list so you can go and copy it if you like).

Every day I engage with these guys’ comments.

Because I want to warm them up to me.

To slowly make my presence known.

To gradually build dat dere relationship.

Eventually they start engaging back and we start chatting in the comments (provided your comments are actually good and not the usual BS most people reply with).

Then, after a while I’ll send them a DM.

And not some BS "love your content btw bro".

A message a normal human being would send:

"Hey man. Been chatting in the comments for a while. Figured it was time I slid into your DM's and offered to take you out for dinner xoxo"

You know, a joke.

A bit of humour.

The sort of message you’d send to someone who was already your mate.

This is exactly how I’ve been able to build relationships with accounts like Aaron Will, Glenn Writes, Wiz Utopian and Kieran Drew.

Because I was smart and treated them like a real fucking human being.

List #2: Mates (private)

These are 30 or so accounts I just like chatting shit with

The people who:

  • Have good content

  • I vibe with on a personal level

Because X is about money, yes.

But it's also about having a laugh with your mates.

These friends will also inevitably spread your good name around and result in lots of inbounds later on.

How do I know?

Because I do it for them.

And the referrals I get daily suggest they do it for me also.

List #3: Prospects (private)

If you don't have a list of prospects on X, prepare to make zero money.

You should be constantly cultivating and updating this list of people who you would like to work with one day.

You are running a business on X.

You need a CRM.

Lists are Twitter’s version of this.

List #4: Leads (private)

This should consist of people who have either:

  • Bought from you in the past

  • Expressed interest in working with you

You should be engaging with their content every single day.

Support them.

Offer them valuable advice.

Keep the connection growing.

Don't waste the relationship you've already started to build.

List #5: Clients (private)

If you have clients you should be supporting their content.

If you aren’t then WTF are you doing.

Add all your clients to this list and engage with their posts every morning.

Takes zero time and has a massive payoff for them and for you.

It also enables you to constantly stay up to date with their content so you can discuss improvements for it whenever you have a call together.

And that's how it's done guys.

That's how you comment and engage in a way that not only builds followers but also builds your bank account.

Because remember:

You're not running a social media profile.

You're running a business.

Start acting like it.
