How to become the go-to guy
The authority ladder
“Build your authority!”
Everyone and their nan is telling you to do this on Twitter now.
But here’s the thing.
Most of the people telling you to do this haven’t got a fucking clue how to do it themselves.
One look at the profiles of these so-called “authority masters” and it seems like they’ve left their laptop unattended around their 5-year old kid that’s currently working his way through the Mr. Men books.
And I’m not knocking the Mr. Men btw - these books are a work of art.
All I’m saying is that most authority-building advice is pure shite.
So let’s fix that today, shall we?
I’m going to show you how to ACTUALLY build your authority quickly on Twitter.
It’s the same way I gained 3,800+ followers and hit my first $9k month in under 120 days.
It’s the same way R landed a $4,200 client just 6 weeks after working with me.
And it’s the same way G hit an $18k pre-sale launch just 6 weeks after joining Twitter and without even having a product to sell.
And it all comes down to one thing:
The authority ladder.
You see, there are 4 types of content which build your authority on Twitter.
Each one carries more weight than the previous.
And if you’re new to the online world, you need to start at the bottom and work your way up.
Which is exactly what this email is going to be about.
1) Tutorial-style content
Some people just “get it”.
You know the types I’m talking about.
The ones you talk to where it’s just abundantly clear they know what they’re talking about
Maybe it’s the gym.
Maybe it’s business.
Maybe it’s the NFL while you’re wolfing down your 4th hotdog at the Superbowl Sunday meetup with your pals.
They might not have any “results” so to speak.
But they have an undeniably strong understanding of that topic and, what’s more, they can articulate it clearly.
And because of this, you’re willing to listen to them.
To hear them out.
To take their opinion on board.
Well, if you’re just getting started on X, this is where you need to start.
Because, you’re right - you don’t have any results to show yet.
But that’s ok.
Because you can circumvent this lack of results by simply giving clear, logical explanations of how you’re GOING to get them.
This is the “building in public” people always talk about.
And it’s your first rung on the authority ladder.
It’s where we all started - myself included.
And it’s where you need to start too.
This is the type of content you should be hammering every single day when you’re first getting started on X.
Then, once you’ve given it time to play out, you can move onto the next rung of the authority ladder…
2) Personal result content
At this point you’ve gotten some results for yourself.
Maybe you’ve hit 1,000 followers in a short period of time.
Maybe you’ve monetized your X account.
Maybe you’ve done something as simple as build a newsletter and gotten 100 people to sign up.
Whatever.
You now need to leverage this momentum like a motherfucker.
Start absolutely spamming “Here’s how I did [insert desirable outcome] in [insert number of days]” style content.
Break your system down into small chunks.
Then write a detailed post on X about this every single day.
Teach people how to get the same results as you.
Because you’re now at a higher level of competency.
You’re no longer talking about how you’re theoretically GOING to get results.
You’re talking from a position of “Here’s how I got these results and here’s how you can too.”
Far more powerful.
Far more alluring.
Far more authoritative.
Smash this content out day after day for long enough and you’ll be ready for the next step.
And what’s that?
Getting results for other people.
3) Client testimonials
This email isn’t about getting clients.
I’ll save that for a later date (except for my group coaching and 1:1 guys of course…)
But let’s presume you’ve landed yourself a couple clients.
Well, now you need to fucking smash it for them.
Do such incredible work for them that they regret only one thing:
Not working with you sooner.
Then you need to start gathering testimonials.
But not the “Harry’s such a great guy, loved working with him” type testimonials.
That’s amateur level.
The testimonials you collect need to describe:
The specific results you got for the client
How you achieved those results
The timeframe this took
Again, I can go into more detail about how to collect testimonials properly in a future email.
But that should get you started for now.
And once you’ve gathered these testimonials?
Now you start leveraging the fuck out of them.
Twitter.
Your newsletter.
Your landing page.
Every single place you could possibly stick them.
Because you know what builds your authority faster than getting results for yourself?
Getting results for someone else.
I can’t tell you how much easier landing clients has become for me since I smashed it for my first few clients and overdelivered on my promises.
This is what you need to do for yourself.
And, finally, we approach the highest rung of authority building…
4) Client case studies
Testimonials are great for building your authority.
But case studies will absolutely SKYROCKET it.
These are the bedrock of your business.
Your ultimate form of social proof.
Getting exceptional results for your client and then detailing out the entire process in explicit detail will do more for your brand than any other action.
In fact, I would go so far as to say that your ENTIRE function as a business owner is simply to generate more and more case studies proving you can get results over and over again.
Why do you think my pinned tweet on X is a case study from one of my clients’ results?
Because now, as soon as someone clicks on my profile, this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that I know what I’m talking about and can get results.
This needs to be your ultimate goal.
Get a client.
Overdeliver like crazy.
Turn it into a case study.
Leverage this to get more, higher ticket clients.
Leverage these into bigger and better case studies.
And so the cycle repeats.
Ad infinitum.
This is how you build authority.
And all it takes is some time and consistent effort to reach this final rung on the ladder.
So go out there and get fucking cracking.
Those case studies aren’t gonna build themselves.
Talk soon,
Harry

Come tomorrow, I will be putting it up for the whopping price of….
$29.
(Still an absolute joke of a price for something that gives you a literal roadmap towards hitting your first $1,000 on X in my opinion).
