- why would anyone listen to me?
why would anyone listen to me?
Why the fuck would anyone listen to me?
That’s what I used to think to myself when I first started writing on Twitter.
After all, I wasn’t a big creator.
I had no authority.
I’d never written a tweet before.
Fuck, I didn’t even know what Money X was until about 1-2 months into my journey (I thought it was one of those weird “Twitter community” things and was very confused when I searched and couldn’t find it, lol).
I was just a normal dude, working a 9-5 who wanted to do something more meaningful with his life.
And I realised writing was the best way to do that.
And after talking to a bunch of you guys recently (plus my clients and Twitter friends), I’ve realised that a LOT of you guys struggle with this same limiting belief.
You’re constantly doubting yourself and thinking “why would anyone care about my opinion?”
And that’s a BIG problem.
Because, without a shadow of a doubt, the MOST important thing you can do as a writer is to write with confidence and conviction.
If you waver, you lose.
That’s how I see it.
And so in this email I want to share with you the KEY perspective shift which completely transformed my writing after just a couple weeks on Twitter (and led to a fuck ton more followers in the process).
Not because I want to tell you what to do (this is your journey after all).
But because I know you’re desperate to make this creator/digital writing thing work.
I know you want to escape the life you’re currently living.
I know you want to build something bigger.
And if I hadn’t learned this lesson early on, I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this email right now. I’d still be sat in my 9-5, staring at depressing spreadsheets, computer code and empty coffee cups all day while sneaking off to write tweets in the toilet cubicles with every spare moment I got.
So here goes.
You wanna be a more confident writer?
You wanna build a die-hard following?
You wanna change your life and build a brand you genuinely love?
Let’s dive in…
When I first came to Twitter I didn’t know what a “hook” was.
But, after a few weeks in the space, I soon stumbled upon a post which taught me:
What a hook was
How to write a good one
The benefits of this (i.e. more impressions and followers)
This is basic stuff, no?
But guess what?
I instantly considered that person an expert. I followed them. And I actually sent them a DM thanking them. All because they’d taught me something I didn’t know.
And that’s the key lesson here:
Just because YOU know something
It does NOT mean everyone else knows this stuff
We all fall into this trap.
We think that because we know something, that everyone else does too.
But that is NOT the case.
You think people outside of our bubble know about digital writing, the creator economy or building a personal brand?
Trust me, they don’t.
I’ve spent HOURS trying to explain to my friends what copywriting is (with little success, lol).
And this presents an huge opportunity for YOU.
Because every day more and more new people join X with high hopes of becoming a digital writer.
And even if you’ve only been here a few weeks, you already know a fuck ton more than them.
You’ve learned how to write a basic bio, no?
You’ve learned how to write a hook, no?
You’ve learned that bullet points catch more attention on the timeline, no?
You take all of this stuff for granted NOW.
But there was a time when you had no idea about any of it.
And there are literally THOUSANDS of new creators on Twitter in exactly the same boat as the “old you”.
And if you can teach them what you know, then guess what?
They will consider YOU an expert.
They will consider YOU an authority.
And, in all likelihood, they’ll follow you (just like I did to that guy who taught me about hooks early on).
So zoom out.
Realise you know more than you give yourself credit for.
Teach the people 1-2 steps behind you who are struggling to work things out.
Make them see YOU as an authority.
And slowly move your way up the hierarchy by doing that every day.
Because…
You are an expert.
You just need to realise that expert is a relative term.
And as I build this writing course for you guys, this is something I’m realising more and more.
Because it’s forcing me to go scroll back through my old tweets.
To remember what I did at the start of this journey.
To study the evolution of my writing, content and confidence over time.
So that I can help you based on where you are NOW (rather than talk from my CURRENT perspective, which is what 99% of other creators do).
Because I want to help YOU (not help myself).
And to give you a bit more insight into where I’m at with this course…
Here’s what it’s going to cover:
Module 1: Perspective and mindset shifts that will help you become a digital writer faster and break your limiting beliefs (just like the one in this email). [RESEARCH PHASE]
Module 2: Copywriting and human psychology principles you MUST understand if you want people to pay attention to your writing (most creators and writers are completely unaware of these, and that’s why they fail) [IN PROGRESS]
Module 3: Dialling in your niche, who to write for and EXACTLY what to write about so you can both make money and grow quickly (while not writing the same boring stuff you don’t enjoy). [DONE]
Module 4: The art of capturing attention with your hooks so people stop scrolling past your posts (based on my own, unique framework that’s allowed me to gain 5,000+ followers in 6 months without being a comment monkey or a slave to the algorithm) [DONE]
Module 5: The art of holding attention with storytelling so you can leave an impact on our readers and, over time, make them fall in love with you and your content. [IN PROGRESS]
Module 6: How to increase the impact of your writing with punchy conclusions, trigger words and subtle editing practises most writers have no idea about. These subtle details are how you make your writing TRULY stand out and make people remember you. [RESEARCH PHASE]
I’ll also be including a bunch of bonuses like (1) my own master tweet swipe file, (2) my offer vault (plus video explanations) and (3) live writing sessions so you can see EXACTLY how my writing process works without paying my expensive consulting fees.
It’s taking me a LONG time to build this.
But that’s only because I’m committed to making this the most useful course you guys have ever seen for becoming a digital creator/writer. (I’m talking with multiple 7-figure course creators to get their advice on this too)
I’ll be reaching out with more details in the coming weeks.
But in the meantime…
If YOU have any suggestions for what you’d like to see in the course:
